Barry (The Boss)
Google Barry Purdon and you will find Hall of Fame, Millionaire Winners, Group 1's and thousands of other wins.
But what is Barry really like?
You would be forgiven for thinking that at this stage in his career Barry is sitting back letting the minions do the heavy lifting. This is not the case.
You have to get up pretty early to get on the yard before Barry. His ability to see the fine detail in the big picture is amazing. The way each horse is treated as an individual knowing when to be firm and when to be gentle is the sign of a master. His openness to new ideas shows that like all truly wise men his mind is still open.
Barry is a board member of the Auckland Trotting Club.
Katrina Purdon (The Actual Boss)
If Barry is the brains, then Katrina is the glue. On the yard in the mornings, making sure everything is as it should be. In the evenings, doing all the behind the scenes - some might say thankless jobs - to ensure the smooth running of the yard.
"I enjoy seeing the babies come through to grow into racehorses. It is so pleasing to see the many achievements some being quite spectacular results. There is nothing like a Group 1 winning feeling."
Scott is an accomplished horseman and it is great to have him with us. Scott works for us in the morning and works a couple of his own team in the afternoon.
Christopher (Whippet) Morrison
Prior to joining the team in 2014 Whippet spent several years working for Craig Demmler and Jodi Quinlan.
"It's a pleasure and a privilege to work for a legendary trainer such as Barry. Katrina and Barry are the nicest people who not only take care of their staff but the horses too."
Whippet is our track curator.
Emma comes from a racing family. She has worked for Paul Court when Terror To Love was racing and travelled extensively with the horse. She has also worked for Robert Dunn prior to joining us. Emma enjoys track work and does a great job caring for the horses.
Nathan Delaney joined our team in October 2018.
Nathan's involvement with horses commenced with Kidz Carts working with Paulette Screen then Dave McGowan and more recently with Ray Green at Lincoln Farms.
Mitchell (Mitch) Sims
Like a fine wine Paul has substance, character and earthy undertones. A graduate of the school of hard knocks Paul has seen and done it all. Simply put an excellent horseman with both the young and older horses who has been with the stable a long time. The Yetton Family is highly respected in the Thoroughbred Industry.
Paul is currently on sick leave.
Danae Price- The StableHouse Cook
Danae has joined us and keeps our staff team well fed with healthy delights. She is a fantastic cook!
